Which eye do I choose?
Left and right mean your child's left and right - not yours as you're facing them. If you're looking at your child from the front, their left eye is the one on your right.
The patch covers the strong eye, not the weak one. Covering the strong eye is what makes the weaker eye do the work - that's the whole point of occlusion therapy.
Your child's optometrist will have told you which eye and how many hours a day. If you're not sure, check with them before ordering - each patch is made for one side and can't be swapped after it's sewn.
Fully covered
Fabric covers the whole lens and nothing gets through. This is what most patching programmes mean by "patch the eye" - if your doctor didn't specify, this is the one to choose. It's non-adhesive, so nothing touches your child's skin, and it fits most frames at our standard 1.5 x 1.97 in (38 x 50 mm) size.
Simple
Fits on the lens exactly like the full coverage patch, just without covering it all the way. Families use these for part-time patching, and for the first week or two when a child is still deciding whether to fight about it. Ask your optometrist before using one as your main patch.
Pirate
Worn on a soft elastic band, no frame required. For children who don't wear glasses, and for the ones who'll happily patch as long as they get to be a pirate about it. Same wool felt and lining as the rest of the range, so it washes and wears the same way. The band adjusts to fit and sits comfortably under hair.

Choose full coverage, simple or pirate. It slides onto the frame (or the band, for pirate) and comes off in a second, with nothing sticking to your child's skin.
FunEyePatches makes fabric occlusion patches for patching prescribed by an eye care professional. We do not diagnose or treat eye conditions. Ask your optometrist or orthoptist which eye to cover and for how long each day.
Standard size for Full Coverage and Simple patches is 1.5 × 1.97 in (38 × 50 mm).
Standard size for Pirate patches is 2.75 × 3.25 in (70 × 83 mm).
If the frame is unusually small or large, measure the lens at its widest and tallest points and put both numbers in the order notes. Custom sizing is free and adds no handling time.
A soft, breathable fabric chosen because it doesn't itch over a long session.
Our patches are non-adhesive, soft fabric patches, not disposable adhesive ones, so they're built to be washed and reused rather than thrown away after one use. Hand wash in cold water and let it air dry naturally - if needed, reshape it by hand. Do not iron. If any dirt appears on the inner fabric, a lint roller or sticky tape lifts it right off. If an edge frays or a thread comes loose, you can carefully trim it with scissors - the fabric won't unravel further.
